Thirsties Newborn All-in-One Diaper

Do you want the convenience of an all-in-one diaper (think just as easy as a disposable to put on and take off!) for your newborn? Look no further, as Thirsties has delivered! To top it all off, you are supporting a USA-based business that has been producing high quality cloth diapers for many years.

Thirsties Newborn All-in-One has 4 layers of absorbency microterry, topped with a microfleece liner and waterproof outer. The soaker is attached at one end, leaving a "flap" inside the diaper. Why is this so great? It allows for better washing and faster drying time (if more layers are sown together, the diaper can take much longer to dry and also not wash as well). It also allows for easy customization of the diaper. Have a boy? Fold the soaker flap toward the front to provide more layers in a boy's wet zone. Want to add more absorbency? Simply tuck a booster under the flap. Another fabulous things about this diaper is that it is so absorbent! Many newborn diapers leave baby's exceeding their absorbency capacity after just a few weeks; not so with the Thirsties Newborn AIO!

The gentle leg gussets and elastic at the back help keep messes in and provide a snug fit.

Hook & Loop or Snaps?

Snap versus hook & loop closure on Thirsties diapers, which to choose

We find aplix (hook & loop) closure to be more adjustable and quicker, so for the newborn phase, it wins! With this particular diaper, the only drawback is that you don't get the umbilical cord snap-down with the aplix version (with snaps, you do). When you have a tiny baby, getting a good fit can be trickier, thus having the more customized fit of aplix closure is nice. When you are doing so many diaper changes a day, the quickness factor is important too! In addition, babies do not fit into these diapers long enough to cause any problem with the adhering of the aplix closure. Even through multiple babies. Seriously. Unless you rub these all over your pets, rugs, fraying towels, and sweaters, and never close the aplix tabs when washing, these closures are not going to wear out in the newborn size! One other perk of aplix closure is that if anyone providing care to your newborn has arthritic fingers or other motor difficulties, aplix will be much easier for this person to use than a snap closure. Don't get us wrong, snap closures are great too! As always it is a personal preference, and great to try some of each if you are unsure.
